British company Audacious Automotive has revealed a restomod project based on one of Audi’s most recognizable performance cars: the original Quattro. The firm has shared early images of the build, showing how it plans to combine the character of the classic all-wheel-drive coupe with more modern Audi hardware.

The project uses parts of the original Quattro body together with new carbon-fiber panels. Underneath, however, the car is being built around the platform and powertrain of the B7-generation Audi RS4, produced in the late 2000s.

Audacious Automotive says the RS4 was chosen mainly because of its longitudinally mounted 4.2-liter V8 engine, paired with a manual gearbox and Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system. In this setup, the Torsen center differential sends power to the front and rear axles in a 40:60 ratio, giving the car a more rear-biased driving character.

The naturally aspirated V8 will not remain stock. The company plans to add a supercharger, raising output to around 600 hp.

The estimated price of the finished car is expected to start at £350,000, not including the cost of the donor vehicles. Work on the first example is still underway.
